Then resetting the act and doing it again, and again, and again, and again until that damn item drops, and then it does drop but it has the wrong stats and you scream and start farming it again. Clearing a zone in Diablo is only a means to get the thing you hope to god drops off the boss or rare mob you need for your build.

Loot is for temp powerups mostly like giving you attack speed or give you movement speed things like that, ontop of that there are keys that you can get that you have to use wisely to either unlock doors or chests.
